PRAYER MINISTRY
Redeemer's Prayer Ministry provides opportunity for members to pray for the needs and concerns of one another, for the mission and ministries of the church, and for the needs of the community and world. The many facets of our Prayer Ministry include:

  • Personal Prayer: praying privately at one's convenience and in one's own style using the "Prayer and Praise" list included in each week's church bulletin
  • Small Group Prayer: praying, encouraging and growing together with a small group which meets twice monthly at the church
  • Prayer Education: periodic Bible Classes on learning how to pray or enhance one's prayer life
  • Prayer Resources: numerous "Prayer Notes" booklets are available throughout the building, and books and audio tapes about prayer are available from the church library
  • Special Prayer Events: "National Day of Prayer" service, Prayer Vigils, etc.
  • Prayer Chain: prayer requests received in the church office or by staff members are shared with the "Prayer Chain", a group of volunteer individuals who are notified of prayer requests via e-mail and then pray over those requests at their own pace and in their own style
  • Prayer "Hot-Line": for prayer requests at any time, call the Prayer Hot-Line (248-644- 4010 Ext. 40). The "Hot-Line" is checked daily, and requests are passed along to the "Prayer Chain".

PURPOSE OF OUR PRAYER MINISTRY
The purpose of our prayer ministry is to provide an opportunity for members to pray for the needs and concerns of one another, for the mission and ministries of the church, and for the needs of the world in which we live.

MANY FACETS OF OUR PRAYER MINISTRY
Our Prayer Ministry has many facets providing a variety of options for your involvement.

Personal Prayer
Praying privately at your convenience using the "Prayer & Praise" list included in the weekly bulletin.

Small Group Prayer
Praying, praising and studying with a small group of others that meets twice monthly at church.

Prayer Chain
Prayer requests may come to the church office by phone or fax. Some are written on Prayer Request cards found in the pew racks. Some requests are shared verbally with a staff member. Some come from the Prayer HotLine which is monitored daily. All prayer requests (unless confidentiality is desired) are then compiled into the "Prayer and Praise" list for the weekly bulletin. Every member of the Prayer Chain gets a copy of that list each week in the mail and they then pray over these requests at their own pace and in their own style. Additionally, urgent concerns or requests that come up between mailings are communicated to Prayer Chain members by phone or e-mail.

We invite you to become part of the Prayer Chain. No special training is needed and you don't have to commit to monthly meetings. All you need is a desire and a commitment to spend time in prayer, talking to God.

If you have questions or would like to become part of the Prayer Chain, please call Joanna Newman (248-644-4010, Ext.20).

Special Prayer Events
National Day of Prayer Service - May 6 Redeemer will observe our nation's 53rd annual National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 6th with a special service of prayer, praise and thanksgiving at 11:15 a.m. in the Chapel. The theme, "Let Freedom Ring", is based upon Leviticus 25:10, "...proclaim liberty throughout the land to all its inhabitants." Invite a friend and join us as we gather to humble ourselves before God and implore His blessings upon our nation, our world and its leaders.

Prayer Education
Attending classes and/or Bible studies on learning how to pray or to enhance your prayer life.

Prayer Resources
Using "Prayer Notes" booklets available throughout the building and books or audio tapes about prayer from the church library.

COMMUNICATING PRAYER NEEDS AND CONCERNS
"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." James 5:16

As you become aware of your own or another person's special need for prayer, you can place that need on our weekly "Prayer and Praise " list in one of several ways:

  • calling the Redeemer Prayer HotLine (248-644-4010 Ext.40)
  • completing a Prayer Request Card
  • contacting the Church Office
  • speaking with a staff member or Stephen Minister
  • contacting a Prayer Ministry Leader
