Membership
and New-member classes
(Updated 1/11/07)
Membership
One can become a member of Redeemer in one of the
following ways:
- New Member Information Class: for those who do not have
a Lutheran background, a 6-week class is offered on either Sunday mornings or
Monday evenings to share the teachings of the Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod
as based on Holy Scriptures. The class is taught by Redeemer's pastors and
Minister of Discipleship. More information.
- Letter of Transfer: for those who currently hold active
membership in another Missouri Synod Lutheran congregation, this simply
involves requesting from the pastor or church office that a letter of transfer
be sent to Redeemer.
- Profession / Reaffirmation of Faith: this method would
be for an individual who may have had Lutheran background in the past but is
not currently a member of a Lutheran church; as well as for one who is coming
from another Lutheran body (not Missouri Synod).
- Confirmation: Confirmation is a 3 year program of
instruction offered to young people in grades 6 through 8. Classes currently
meet on Tuesday evenings at the church. Confirmation ("adult" membership)
occurs in early May of one's 8th grade year.

NEW MEMBER
CLASSES
New Member Classes are required of all
persons interested in joining Lutheran Church of the Redeemer as a member and
who do not have background in the Lutheran faith. The six-session class focuses
on the core teachings of the Christian faith from a biblical perspective that
is distinctly Lutheran. If you are transferring from another Lutheran church
or will be joining through a "Reaffirmation of Faith" process, you are not
required to attend these classes, but are warmly invited to join us as a means
of review as well as a fellowship opportunity with other people new to
Redeemer. All of our sessions are "user-friendly" and very informative. Sunday
classes will be held in the Great Room and Monday sessions are in the
Conference Room. Topics covered in the New Member Classes include: .
Introduction to Lutheranism / How Lutherans view the Bible . The Ten
Commandments . The Apostles' Creed . Prayer / The Lord's Prayer . The
Sacraments - Holy Baptism and Holy Communion . Lutheran Worship / Christian
Stewardship
